Which videos you can translate, whose voices you can clone, what a translated or dubbed video can't be used for, and how to report misuse of a voice

In short

  • Translate videos you made, own, or have permission to translate.
  • A dub copies the speaker's voice. Only dub people who agreed to it.
  • Don't use a dub to make people believe someone said something they didn't.
  • No sexual content involving minors, ever. No hate, harassment or threats.
  • Your uploads and results are deleted automatically when their storage time ends.
  • See something that breaks these rules? Contact us and we'll look at it.

Videos you can translate

You can translate a video when one of these is true:

  • You made it. Your own channel, course, podcast, ad or demo.
  • You have the rights. Your company owns it, or the owner licensed it to you.
  • You have permission. The creator said yes to a translated version.

Downloading someone else's video and posting a dubbed copy usually breaks their copyright, even with credit. When you upload a file, you confirm that you have the right to translate it.

Whose voice you can clone

A dub keeps each speaker's own voice, learned from the video itself. That makes consent part of every dub:

  • Your voice. Always fine.
  • People in your video. Colleagues, guests and presenters should know the video will be dubbed in their voice. A release covering translations is the simplest way.
  • Anyone else. Don't dub a public figure, a celebrity or a stranger without their written permission.

A person whose voice was cloned without their OK can ask us to delete the result, and we will.

What translations can't be used for

  • Deception. Don't make people believe a real person said or endorsed something they didn't. Don't change what a speaker meant and present it as theirs.
  • Fraud and impersonation. No scams, fake endorsements, fake news or voice messages meant to trick someone.
  • Sexual content. Nothing sexual involving a minor. No sexual content using a real person's voice without their consent.
  • Hate and harassment. Nothing that attacks people for their race, ethnicity, religion, nationality, gender, sexual orientation, disability or age. Nothing made to bully or threaten someone.
  • Illegal or dangerous acts. Nothing that promotes violence, self-harm or other crimes.

Minors

Children can appear in videos you have the rights to, such as a family channel or a school course. Never use a translation to sexualize, mock or harm a minor.

How we check

Every line of the translation is shown to you before it is voiced, so you stay responsible for what the dub says. We review reports by hand. If a translation breaks this policy, we may delete it, and repeated or serious breaks can close the account. If a translation fails, its credits come back automatically.

Your files

Your video is used only to make your translation. Our AI providers receive it to do that work. We don't use your videos or voices to train AI models.

Uploads and results are deleted automatically: free previews after 1 day, paid results after 30 to 90 days depending on your plan. Each project shows its delete date. You can delete a project earlier from your projects page.

Reporting misuse

Contact us with a link or a description of the video. If it uses your voice or your video, tell us, and we'll remove it. We look at every report, usually within a day.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll post the new version on this page.
