Can AI translate a Japanese video into English?

Yes. Upload the video and the Japanese speech is transcribed, translated and voiced in English in the same speaker’s tone. Keigo becomes polite English instead of literal titles, and subjects Japanese leaves out are filled in. Preview 60 seconds free; English subtitles then cost 0.2 credits a minute.

What gets translated — and what doesn’t

Honest limits, so you know before you upload.

Food and travel in Japan

Travel vloggers in Japan mix fast casual Japanese with English asides. The English asides are left alone; only the Japanese is translated, so the video doesn’t say the same thing twice.

Keep the original sound of the place: the voice track is swapped while the clatter, the chef’s shout and the street noise stay where they were.

Corporate seminars and training

Formal business Japanese turned into clear English for global teams.

Seminar Japanese is full of humble and respectful forms that have no English equivalent. They become courteous, direct English — what an English-speaking presenter would actually say on stage.

Company and product names go into the glossary once, so every session in a training series uses the same terms.

Frequently asked questions

How do I translate a Japanese video to English for free?

Upload it and preview the first 60 seconds in English free, without an account. Signing up and verifying your email adds 3 free credits for 30 days — about 15 minutes of English subtitles at 0.2 credits a minute.

How does it deal with keigo and honorifics?

Respectful and humble forms are translated into polite English rather than literal titles. Suffixes like -san or -senpai are dropped by default; add them to the glossary if you want them kept.

Japanese often leaves out the subject. Does the English guess?

The translation reads the whole conversation, not one sentence at a time, so it fills in “I”, “you” or “we” from context. You can check and change any of them in the script before voicing.

Is on-screen Japanese text translated?

No. Only speech is translated. Captions burned into the picture, signs and menus stay in Japanese.

Can I get Japanese and English subtitles together?

Yes. Download the Japanese transcript, the English subtitles, or a bilingual SRT or VTT with both lines — useful for learners.

Does it work on anime?

It does, and each character gets a separate English voice. See the anime dubbing page for casting tips, and only dub work you own or have permission to use.

Can I pick a different English voice?

Yes. By default each speaker gets an English voice cloned from their own. In the script you can switch any speaker to one of 12 library voices instead — handy when a narrator should sound neutral.
